The Courtney Library is open to members of the Royal Institution of Cornwall and visiting academics with a letter of recommendation from their institution or a valid student card.  Membership of the Royal Institution of Cornwall is open to everyone, please click here for details.

Use of the Library is by appointment only; please call ahead to discuss your requirements with the Librarian.  All our archives have to be retrieved from store.  By making an appointment, the Librarian can ensure the relevant documents and workspace are available when you arrive.

The collections consist of approximately 40,000 printed books, pamphlets and periodicals as well as transcripts, manuscripts, c. 25,000 original documents, original and microfilmed newspapers, engravings, maps and ephemera collections including local postmarks.  The Library also houses books and periodicals relating to the collections in the RIC’s Royal Cornwall Museum.
