RIC Autumn Lecture
October 20, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pmFree
This lecture will give a detailed account of Helen’s long-standing relationship with Gabbroic clay, the Royal Cornwall Museum, and her current exhibition, which highlights and engages with the archaeology from Tremough in Penryn.
In recent years, three archaeological digs have established this site as a place of making 4000 years ago. This small triangular plateau which overlooks the Fal estuary and the Carrick Roads, is now home to Falmouth & Exeter Universities. Many of the craft works in exhibition, are displayed alongside the archaeology. My unique hybrid works use techniques and processes which move back and forth from the traditional to the digital in terms of making. In perfect circularity, works are produced directly from these finds using sophisticated digital scanning and petrographic equipment, all currently in use across the University.
In conjunction with Helen Marton’s exhibition ‘4000 Years in the Making’
