Schools
A visit to RCM can enrich many aspects of the Curriculum. Our collections of Greek, Roman and Egyptian artefacts provide a vivid insight into these ancient cultures, and artefacts from the local area trace the history and culture of Cornwall. The world-famous collection of minerals in the Rashleigh Gallery is a fascinating introduction to aspects of geology and geography, as well as illustrating the history of the mining community in Cornwall. Examples of Cornish flora and fauna can be seen in the Bonython Gallery. Click here for more information on the Museum’s Collections.
Gallery Challenge packs are available to accompany a visit to the Museum to stimulate creative thinking, close observation and discussion.

Early Years
RCM is investing in a specialised programme for Early Years with a tailored workshop and artefacts loans box designed to stimulate creative engagement with the past through objects. Click here to meet Marvin the Museum Mouse and to see what we have to offer for 3 to 5 year olds.
Key Stage 1 and 2
RCM offers a range of workshops designed to support a variety of National Curriculum topic areas within History, Art, Literacy, Science and a Sense of Place. The workshops take place within the Museum, introducing pupils to the Museum’s Collections and providing the opportunity to handle and investigate objects from a variety of historical periods.
Our artefacts loans boxes and resource packs can be used in the classroom as a resource to animate topic areas, extend learning opportunities or to introduce pupils to a topic area in preparation for a visit to RCM.
Key Stage 3 and 4
RCM’s workshops for Key Stage 3 & 4 provide the opportunity to handle artefacts from a variety of cultures and historical periods within the framework of a school day. Workshops cover a variety of curriculum areas and take place in school within the time frame of a normal lesson.
Artefacts loans boxes are also available to use as a resource within the classroom.
