Older People

Reminiscence workshops
We can visit your group with our Memory Boxes packed with objects from the past 80 years and deliver a reminiscence workshop. These workshops are open to both older people and people with visual and hearing impairments.
COST: FREE

Appeal for objects
We are still collecting objects from the 1930s-50s for the Memory Boxes. Objects we are particularly interested in acquiring are a school discipline cane, a liberty bodice and stockings, swimming costumes, travel-irons, seaside holiday souvenirs, beach games, railway tickets and camping equipment such as old non-vacuum flasks or camping stoves.

Workshops
If you work with a group with disabilities of any kind, we can offer workshops specifically tailored to your group’s needs. These can either take place at the museum or we can bring the collections to you for handling sessions.

Access Advisory Panel – ‘empowered to advise’
The Royal Cornwall Museum’s Access Advisory Panel (AAP) will consist of disabled people meeting regularly to have their say on what happens for people with disabilities in the museum and how we can cater better for you in the upcoming redisplay of the museum. It will be a fun but productive group where disabled people will play an active role in making sure that the new museum serves disabled people as best as it can.
