A Marvellous Mechanical May Half Term
This half term, visit the Marvellous Mechanical Museum. On until Saturday 6 July, press a button and see what happens… Maybe there will be dancing, an old man in a bathtub will try to take off, or maybe a whole household will come to life.
The Marvellous Mechanical Museum is a celebration of artworks called ‘automata’, and during the half term, we want to invite you to make your own with the return of ‘Curious Contraptions’. In this ensemble workshop, you can make a small lever-operated toy that will link up with others to create one long, snaking machine. It’s a sight to see!
Our eagle-eyed visitors will also be able have a go at the Automata Spotter Trail in the Art Gallery, or if you prefer to get more hands on and creative, you can visit our craft table in the Nature Gallery.
During May Half Term, we will be open Monday – Saturday, 10am-4pm. Tickets are available on the door, costing £7.50 for an adult annual pass while kids go free. To find out more about visiting the museum, check out our ‘visiting us’ page.
