New Museum Monday Club in collaboration with Memory Matters
Royal Cornwall Museum is delighted to be launching Museum Monday Club in collaboration with Memory Matters after the success of our pilot project ‘A Day at the Museum’.
An engaging programme of activity sessions for individuals with mild to moderate dementia and memory loss. The programme is designed to improve well-being and confidence using cognitive stimulation therapy (CST) and museum resources. Groups are maximum of 8 people to encourage discussion, participants must attend independently.
Sessions are free and will be starting Monday 12 September onwards, 10:00am – 12:00pm.
Our pilot project improved the day-to-day lives of the participants, improving their health, well-being and social lives. The themed sessions involved using CST methods such as reality orientation and word warm-ups alongside object handling, facilitated interrogative discussions, and close-looking and watercolour painting using the collection and temporary exhibitions for inspiration.
For more information on the pilot, visit page 14 of our Impact Report, which can be found here.
