Museum Club

Do you love museums?  Are you aged between 8 and 14 years?
If so, the RCM Museum Club may be just the thing for you!

Museum Club gives young visitors the chance to delve deeper into the treasures of the museum.  Discover more about the collections and exhibitions, through a range of activities including object handling, art and craft making, and creative writing.  Explore the historical, the beautiful and the weird and wonderful!

Museum Club will run on the 3rd Sunday of each month.
Sessions: Morning 11am- 12.30pm
Cost: £3 per session

Sunday 17th March – Board Games
Look at some boards games of the past for inspiration, then create your own game based on themes and objects in the museum.

Sunday 21st April – Japanese Treasures
See traditional Japanese netsuke toggles and inro containers. Observe the detailed and beautiful decorations, featuring animals and plants, then create new versions using simple craft materials.

Sunday May 19th ‘Artefact Adventure’
Today we’ll be on a quest to find all sorts of objects around the museum.  Our finds will be documented with descriptions and sketches in special log books.

Sunday June 16th ‘Blue and White’
See the many pottery pieces decorated in blue and white, from patterned plates to the magnificent pyramid tulip vase.  We’ll be recreating these designs with collage and paint… using just blue and white!

Sunday July 21st ‘People Poems’
Have fun bringing our portrait paintings to life with creative writing and drawing. What sorts of characters will you create?

Sunday August 18th ‘Cornish Countryside’
Look at the paintings in the ‘Hireth’ exhibitions then recreate the wild and beautiful Cornish landscapes using a range of art materials.
